Travel via NH7 along the Alaknanda River through Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, and Karnaprayag, passing through five of the Panch Prayag (sacred confluences). The road climbs to Joshimath (1,875m) — the winter seat of Lord Badrinath and home to the 1,200-year-old Narsingh Temple. From Joshimath, take the 4 km gondola ride (Asia's longest cable car) to Auli (2,500-3,050m), where pristine snow slopes offer stunning panoramic views of Nanda Devi (7,816m), Kamet, Mana Parvat, and Dunagiri peaks. In summer, the alpine meadows of Auli burst with wildflowers, and the Gorson Bugyal trek is ideal for groups. Joshimath also serves as the base for the Valley of Flowers trek. Groups should carry warm layers even in summer as temperatures drop sharply after sunset.
