The Delhi to Kasol-Kheerganga-Manikaran adventure circuit is the quintessential Parvati Valley backpacker road trip, covering 520 km to reach one of Himachal's most enchanting valleys. Take NH44 to Chandigarh (250 km, 4 hours), then NH21 through Bilaspur, Sundernagar, and Mandi (220 km, 5-6 hours). From Mandi, the route turns onto NH305 through Aut Tunnel and follows the Beas River to Bhuntar, where the Parvati Valley begins. The 30 km drive from Bhuntar along the turquoise Parvati River to Kasol passes through Jari and pine forests. Kasol's Israeli cafes like Evergreen, Jim Morrison, and Moon Dance serve shakshuka, hummus, and wood-fired pizza. Manikaran, just 4 km upstream, has the famous Gurudwara Sahib with natural hot springs where water boils at 96 degrees Celsius, and groups can bathe in the therapeutic hot pools. The Kheerganga trek (12 km from Barshaini, 6 hours one way) climbs through forests and waterfalls to a meadow at 2,960 metres with hot springs at the top and jaw-dropping valley views. The tempo traveller waits at Kasol while trekkers tackle Kheerganga over two days. Tosh village (3 km uphill from Barshaini) offers panoramic valley views and cosy guesthouses for groups not trekking.
