About This Spiti Valley Itinerary
Spiti Valley is India's most remote and otherworldly destination — a cold desert at 12,000+ feet with ancient monasteries, fossil villages, and landscapes that look like another planet. Our 7-day itinerary follows the classic Shimla-Spiti-Manali circuit covering Kinnaur Valley, Chitkul, Kalpa, Tabo, Kaza, Key Monastery, and the legendary Chandratal Lake.
This is not a luxury trip — it is an adventure through some of the most dramatic landscapes on Earth. From the green valleys of Kinnaur to the barren moonscapes of Spiti, every day brings a completely different vista. The ancient monasteries of Tabo and Key hold centuries of Buddhist art and culture.
An SUV is mandatory for Spiti — the roads are rough, river crossings are common, and passes reach over 15,000 feet. Our experienced mountain drivers navigate these challenging roads daily and ensure your safety throughout.
Got Questions?
FAQs
Yes, 7 days covers the complete Shimla-Spiti-Manali circuit. For a more relaxed pace or to add Pin Valley trek and Mud Village, plan 9-10 days.
No, an SUV is mandatory. Spiti roads include river crossings, landslide areas, and unpaved sections that are impossible for sedans. We only send SUVs to Spiti.
Yes, Spiti is very safe. The main challenge is altitude (12,000-15,000 ft) and road conditions. Acclimatize properly and travel with an experienced driver.
June to September via both Shimla and Manali routes. The Manali-Kaza road (via Rohtang/Kunzum) opens around mid-June. October is possible but cold. Winter is extremely harsh.
BSNL has limited coverage in Kaza. Airtel/Jio do not work beyond Kalpa. Carry cash and inform family before entering Spiti — you may be unreachable for days.
AMS is a real risk above 12,000 ft. Acclimatize at Kalpa, drink lots of water, avoid alcohol, and carry Diamox. Our itinerary is designed for gradual altitude gain.
