Monsoon is the one season when North India looks completely different from the postcard version. Waterfalls that are a trickle in May run full, the haze over the plains washes out, and hill towns that are shoulder-to-shoulder in June suddenly have room to breathe. Triveni Cabs runs monsoon road trips from Delhi through August and September with drivers who work these routes year-round, so you get a real assessment of what is drivable rather than an optimistic one.

We are straight with customers about the trade-off. Himachal and Uttarakhand hill roads do get landslides and shooting stones in heavy rain, the Chandratal road and Kunzum Pass can shut without notice, and a route that was clear at breakfast can be blocked by lunch. That is why our monsoon plans are built with a buffer day, an alternate lower-altitude option, and drivers instructed to descend before the afternoon downpour. If a road closes, we re-route - we do not push a vehicle through standing water or a fresh slide.

Packages start at ₹8,250 for a 3-day sedan trip billed at our standard ₹11/km with a 250 km per day minimum. Innova Crysta works out to ₹18/km and is the sensible choice for anything beyond metalled hill roads, and a 12-seater Tempo Traveller runs ₹20/km. For tempo and bus bookings the one-way and round-trip rate is the same - there is no one-way discount, and we would rather say that upfront than surprise you at settlement.
