Frequently Asked Questions

A 7-9 day Spiti circuit costs Rs 15,000-28,000 per person. Transport by Tempo Traveller is Rs 3,410-4,000/person, homestays and guesthouses Rs 500-1,200/person/night, and Chandratal camping Rs 1,500-3,000/person. Spiti is remote so pricing is higher than nearby hills.
The classic loop is Delhi-Shimla-Kalpa-Tabo-Kaza-Chandratal-Manali-Delhi. Entering via Shimla allows gradual acclimatisation (crucial to avoid altitude sickness) and exiting via Manali completes the circuit. The reverse Manali-first route is only for the fully acclimatised.
Yes, with the right vehicle and driver. Spiti has rough, high-altitude roads with water crossings near Batal. Our hill-spec Tempo Travellers and experienced Spiti drivers handle it safely. We carry oxygen and plan acclimatisation halts to prevent AMS.
June to September is the best window when the full circuit (including Kunzum Pass and Chandratal) is open. July-August offers the greenest Pin Valley. The Manali-Kaza road stays closed October-May due to snow, so summer is the only time for the complete loop.
Indian nationals do not need permits for the main Spiti circuit. Foreign nationals require an inner-line permit for certain areas near the border. We assist with any permits required and advise on the latest rules before your trip.
The key is a slow ascent - our itinerary halts at Shimla, Kalpa, and Tabo before reaching high Kaza and Chandratal. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol on ascent days, and inform the driver of any symptoms. We carry oxygen and altitude medication in the vehicle.
